L’orchestra I DURI DI CHICAGO nasce tre anni fa e corona un sogno che gli otto musicisti hanno a lungo condiviso: mettere in scena le canzoni del grande Fred Buscaglione. Un progetto ambizioso ed accattivante in cui vengono eseguite le canzoni del grande musicista torinese – tragicamente scomparso a soli 38 anni in un incidente d’auto nel quartiere parioli, dopo un concerto in un night – con arrangiamenti originali dell’orchestra. Non mancano le “gag” divertenti e improvvisate, che rappresentavano una parte fondamentale nello show di Fred Buscaglione. Lo spettacolo, allegro e vivace, prevede l’esecuzione di “criminal songs” intervallate da ballads e da brani famosi come “Nel Blu dipinto di Blu” e “Parlami d’amore Mariu”, con gli originali arrangiamenti di Fred Buscaglione. L’Orchestra si è esibita con successo in tutta Italia, sia in locali che all’interno di festival e rassegne.

Alla fine degli anni cinquanta Fred Buscaglione era uno degli uomini di spettacolo più richiesti, e non
solo come cantante. Era dappertutto: nelle pubblicità, alla televisione e nei film, prima con brevi
apparizioni canore, poi in ruoli autonomi incarnando quasi sempre la figura del simpatico spaccone. La sua attività si faceva sempre più frenetica: girava due o tre film contemporaneamente il mattino, registrava spettacoli televisivi nel pomeriggio, incideva dischi la sera e cantava nei night la notte, spostandosi a bordo di una vistosa auto americana, una Ford Thunderbird che lui chiamava “Criminalmente bella”, come una delle sue canzoni. La scomparsa di Fred Buscaglione, avvenuta nel pieno della sua carriera di cantante e di attore, fu un evento mediatico che ebbe ampie ripercussioni nell’Italia del boom economico. Il suo ultimo film, le cui riprese erano terminate pochi giorni prima del tragico incidente, e che si sarebbe dovuto intitolare A qualcuno piace Fred, uscì nelle sale il 24 febbraio 1960 con il titolo Noi duri e ottenne immediatamente un enorme successo, restando in programmazione per mesi. Nel film Buscaglione recita con attori famosi come Paolo Panelli, Totò e Scilla Gabel, tenendo la scena con naturalezza e brio. Le sue canzoni continuarono ad essere ascoltate alla radio e nei juke-box che andavano diffondendosi per la penisola e la folla cosmopolita che invadeva Roma durante le Olimpiadi portò a casa, tra i souvenir, anche i dischi di Buscaglione, accrescendone la conoscenza anche all’estero

The orchestra was born in February 2015 to crown the dream of each of the eight members of the group: to stage the songs of the great Fred Buscaglione. Each of the musicians has a very respectable curriculum and a great experience in the field of jazz music. The project is certainly ambitious and captivating as the show provides, in addition to the execution of the great Fred’s songs, a series of very funny gags and the projection of films that introduce and give meaning to the songs themselves, as well as the presence on stage of some Swing ‘or Roma dancers (if the location allows) that contextualize the songs. In March 2016 they released their first cd “… every night like this”.

The I DURI DI CHICAGO orchestra was born three years ago and crowns a dream that the eight musicians have a
long shared: stage the songs of the great Fred Buscaglione.
An ambitious and captivating project in which the songs of the great Turin musician are performed
– tragically passed away at the age of 38 in a car accident in the parioli district, after a concert in
a night – with original orchestra arrangements. Do not miss the fun and impromptu “gags”,
that represented a fundamental part in the Fred Buscaglione show. The show, cheerful and
lively, involves the execution of “criminal songs” interspersed with ballads and famous pieces such as “Nel Blu
painting by Blu ”and“ Parlami d’amore Mariu ”, with the original arrangements by Fred Buscaglione.
The Orchestra has performed successfully throughout Italy, both in local and within festivals and festivals.

At the end of the fifties, Fred Buscaglione was one of the most sought-after and unpopular showmen
only as a singer. It was everywhere: in advertising, on television and in movies, first with brief
singing appearances, then in autonomous roles almost always embodying the figure of the nice braggart.
His activity became more and more frenetic: he shot two or three films at the same time in the morning,
he recorded TV shows in the afternoon, recorded records in the evening and sang at night in the night,
moving aboard a flashy American car, a Ford Thunderbird he called
“Criminally beautiful”, like one of his songs.
The disappearance of Fred Buscaglione, which took place at the height of his career as a singer and actor, was a
media event that had wide repercussions in the Italy of the economic boom. His latest film, whose
shooting had ended a few days before the tragic accident, and that it should have been entitled A
some like Fred, he came out on February 24, 1960 under the title Noi duri and got it immediately
a huge success, staying in programming for months. In the film Buscaglione plays with actors
famous as Paolo Panelli, Totò and Scilla Gabel, holding the scene with naturalness and brio. Her
songs continued to be heard on the radio and in the jukeboxes that were spreading throughout the world
